Hello, I’m Téa Franco! I’m a fiction writer based out of Indianapolis. I have short stories and poems published at venues including Barrelhouse Magazine, Barren Magazine, and Foglifter Press. My published work has received nominations for Best Small Fictions, Best of the Net, and Pushcart prizes.
I received a B.A. in journalism from Winthrop University and an M.F.A. in prose writing from Bowling Green State University. I’m the co-editor of Kiss Your Darlings: A Taylor Swift Anthology, out with Olney Magazine. Previously, I served as the Fiction Editor of Mid-American Review and the associate fiction editor of Okay Donkey Magazine. I am a creative writing instructor, who loves spreading the joy of creative writing to people of all ages. Formerly, I served as a visiting writer to a delightful second grade class in Bowling Green, Ohio and then later as a writing instructor at Indy Reads.
When I’m not wandering around in the worlds I write, I work in the communications field. I have two cats, Mitski and Lola, who rule over my life and a partner who I love to hang out all day at the library with.
I’m currently working on a novel, for which I received support for from the Central Indiana Community Foundation. The organization funded a two-week research excursion to San Juan, Puerto Rico — where my father and grandmother are from — where I spent time learning about my ancestry to use as fuel for the novel which centers a matriarchal family from the island. Currently, I am unrepresented and plan to begin querying agents once my novel is complete.
